BOREHOLE 01 - Fawoade Community

Delivering safe water through transparent, community-driven innovation.

On April 17th, 2022, the community of Fawoade witnessed a truly historic and life-changing moment—the official launch of the first Hive-supported borehole water system in Ghana. What made the day remarkable was not just the commissioning of infrastructure but the transformation it represents: reliable access to safe drinking water for families who previously struggled with daily water scarcity. The project was delivered under the supervision of community leaders and local coordinators, demonstrating how technology-driven initiatives can produce tangible human outcomes.

Fawoade was selected as part of Hive’s community empowerment efforts, recognizing the urgent need for sustainable water access across many Ghanaian villages. Following weeks of planning, construction, and community collaboration, the borehole was successfully completed and inaugurated in partnership with local leadership. The launch drew strong community participation and media interest, reinforcing the broader significance of transparent, impact-driven development.

This project stands as a powerful example of what accountable funding and community-centered execution can achieve. Borehole 01 continues to provide safe water to Fawoade and surrounding areas—improving health conditions, reducing daily hardship, and strengthening local resilience.
